Kawaii Star
Hello everyone! Today I will be interviewing the lovely KimonoTime who has become popular on Youtube recently, with over 3,500,000 views on her channel. She is really into Japanese culture and frequently performs at conventions, so let’s find out more about her!
Q: Tell me a bit about yourself!Hello! I’m Kelsey, but I’m also known as KimonoTime on the internet! It’s like a double life. In the “real world” I live in London and I am a freelance dancer/performer and also a charity fundraiser. Then when I get home I dance and sing to Jpop on youtube, do niconico lives and I also perform at conventions!Q: How did you first get interested in Japan?Oh, well it’s more or less the most common way these days, through anime! Card Captor Sakura always used to play on CITV (a childrens TV show) every day after school and I loved it! When I found out it was Japanese, I looked into more stuff about Japan, and then I found Jpop and I fell in love with the language, and then started reading more about the culture, fashion and food, and just kind of got really into it!!Q: Who are your favourite Japanese groups/artists?Ooo, definatley Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is my favourite at the moment! I have listened to her new album Pamyu Pamyu Revolution on repeat for the past month! I also love Morning Musume, they have always been my favourite Hello Project Group! Momoi Haruko is also a favourite! Ooo, and BABYMETAL! Those girls are just awesome! And after watching Natsuko Aso, (or Naaachaaan) at Hyper Japan, I also fell in love with her and her music too! Q: Do you like Japanese fashion? Why do you like it?I love Japanese fashion! When I first found out about harajuku and the different styles I would just search for them in google images and just kind of stare at them and be awed by their style! It’s just so different and fresh! I also like the fact that Japanese fashion concentrates more on looking cute or cool, rather than sexy or provocative. And I like cute stuff, so Japanese fashion gets a thumbs up!
