It’s already been two weeks since HYPER JAPAN, and I’m sure most of us are wishing we were back there watching the stage events, buying cute things and eating yummy food. Hopefully this post will make you feel like you’re still watching the Japanese street fashion show! Kairi from Wales is into all sorts of fashion, so let’s find out some more about this fabulous fashionista!
At HJ2011 Kairi and Rachel took to the stage as a sweet Lolita pair in OTT accessories from head to toe, including some gorgeous cake clips from Now,Voyager. For the HJ2012 fashion show they were a fairy-kei pair and they both looked fantastic! Kairi’s outfit took influences from both fairy and pop kei. Both these styles are heavily themed around the 80s, however fairy kei makes more use of pastel colours compared to the bolder colours of pop-kei. Popular brands for both these styles include SPANK! and 6%DOKIDOKI. My favourite part of the coordinate had to be the GameBoy necklace! It was just so awesome.

The salopette Kairi wore is part of her ‘Candyholic’ fashion project – being the creative and talented person she is she can easily transform old unwanted pieces into very trendy items. This time was no exception, she completely edited it herself using posca pens, hand cut glitter motifs, rhinestones, beads… and even old children’s jewellery! I can reveal it cost her less than £10 to create the outfit and accessories. As well as looking amazing in the fashion she also sends out a personal style statement, a “retaliation against disposable fashion culture”.
All very interesting! Join me again next Friday for another fashionista, plus a tour of Hello Kitty’s Kawaii Paradise to come! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

It’s that time of the week again and this time we have Welsh lolita expert Rachel Claire! From rural Wales, Rachel is a talented fine art painter, and has a real passion for Japanese street fashion. A lot of her art is influenced by fantasy and rococo culture, and can be viewed here. Her creativity she shows in her art also shows in her brilliant fashion coordinations. Though mainly a sweet lolita, she is also seen in styles such as fairy-kei, and is an inspiration to many UK fashionistas. Here are some of my favourite photos from her blog:

At HYPER JAPAN 2011 Rachel modelled in the ‘Cute and Colourful’ fashion show decked in cute accessories from head to toe. She looked lovely in her outfit featuring Angelic Pretty’s ‘Candy Fairy’, and appeared with adorable lolita Kairi, who was wearing Angelic Pretty’s ‘Miracle Candy’. The two obviously impressed the public with their pretty coordinations and were interviewed for the HYPER JAPAN youtube and Mo-am magazine’s youtube.
