Kawaii Star
We’ve already come to issue 9 of Friday Fashionista (how exciting!). I hope everybody is enjoying reading them. After submitting the winning entry of the ilovecrafty coordination contest, this week’s fashion queen will be Dodo!
Dodo dresses in what are called ‘bittersweet’ colours, mainly black and pink. I love the way her Lolita outfits are so cute with some OTT sweet features (such as big pink hair, huge bows) but at the same time have a darker, more punk tone to them. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a spikey choker and star clip put together in one coordination before but it really works, she has a wonderful and unique style. I also love her casual wear, how she keeps the same colour scheme to put together great looking outfits that look like they have come from the streets of Harajuku.

Left: I love her necklace, middle: what a pretty headdress!, right: the different layers of bows are really inventive and look great
At HJ in February, Dodo will be representing her style at the Japanese street fashion show on Saturday. I can’t wait to see the creative ensemble she will put together! As well as watching Dodo and many other fashionistas take to the stage, there will be the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes, courtesy of Gothic Lolita Wigs. Be sure not to miss it – HYPER JAPAN stage from 2:00pm. You can view the page on the website all about the fashion events here or visit the facebook page. Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

So I’ve noticed the ‘Friday Fashionista’ posts have been based around different styles of Lolita so far, so this week and in weeks to come I’m going to start branching out into other Japanese street fashions. Let me introduce you to Sachiko. For those of you who have seen her before, you will notice how she wears tons of hairclips, necklaces, bright clothes… so what is this bold and cute style? It’s called decora!
Decora is a term taken from the english word ‘Decoration’. I think it’s the perfect way to sum up the fashion! You decorate yourself in as many accessories as possible to create an adorable and unique look. But of course each layer is carefully thought through and it can take months to perfect your style. You can add your own touch in many ways, this could be a cute mask, crazy hair, or mixing other styles with decora such as fairy kei and sweet lolita.

Pictures of decora fashion from google images
Sachiko attended HJ last year, and I heard this year she will be representing decora in the Japanese street fashion show! How exciting! I can’t wait to see what colourful outfit she will come up with. You can keep up to date with the HJ fashion events on the website and on facebook. She also has recently started up a decora information blog on blogspot, as well as a coordination advice blog on tumblr. So if this post has inspired any of you to try out the style, be sure to check those out!

Three of my favourite coordinations of Sachiko’s. I especially like the middle one where she uses a lolita skirt from ‘Angelic Pretty’ in her outfit
Don’t forget, only 4 days to go until the ilovecrafty coordination contest ends! Enter your cutest japanese street fashion outfit to win great prizes! I should get back to posting more after my last exam on Monday. Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Got a passion for fashion? You’ve come to the right place! Time for the 7th issue of Friday fashionista (posted just a little bit after Friday… sorry everyone!), and this week we have the stunning Aliki, otherwise known as alice_ciel!
Aliki attended both HJ2010 and HJ2011. Her coordination from Friday of HJ2011 was one of my favourites from the whole weekend! She wore a beautiful sax blue ensemble with the ‘Heart Marble Chocolate’ jumperskirt from Btssb (topped off with a cute usamimi!) for the Kanon Wakeshima tea party. I also loved her gothic outfit on the Saturday, when she wore the popular print ‘Vampire Requiem’ from Alice and the Pirates.

Left: Vampire Requiem coord, Middle: Marble Heart Chocolate coord, Right: more casual coord with an Angelic Pretty salopette!
My favourite thing about all her coordinates though has to be her adorable nails! Aliki always has the perfect nails to match the colours and themes of her outfit. I love all the 3D gems and bows that she adds to give them extra volume. They really give her coords the complete look. I also found out that she decos all the nails herself… how cool is that?

Some of Aliki’s pretty nails. I particularly like the ones on the right with the teddy and donuts!
Lots to look forward to on my blog coming your way soon! Remember the ilovecrafty coordination contest is still open! If you have any requests or comments you’d like to share on cute Japanese culture email me at hjkawaiistar@gmail.com. Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Calling all japanese street fashion enthusiasts! It’s Friday, and this week I’ll be introducing you to Essex lolita Katie.
At HJ2011 I saw Katie all over the place! Along with other lolitas she was at HYPER JAPAN stage in the ‘Elegant and Sophisticated’ fashion show, wearing a wonderfully coordinated red/black ensemble! On top of that, she also looked lovely modelling the shrine maiden graduation kimono below. Remember a while back when I reviewed an adorable product from ‘Now, Voyager!’, who were at HJ2011? You may recognise her from pictures on their online shop (doesn’t she look cute!)

Left: Katie looking fab in the fashion show, middle: modelling for Now, Voyager!, Right: modelling a kimono
Katie also has a blog where she talks about various events and visits. At Stuck inside a Tamagotchi, she posts her latest outfits and reports on different japanese culture events. She also posts her 2D and 3D work as she is currently a very talented Computer Games Design student. What else I found particularly interesting on her website was her account of her trip to Japan, as I’m going very soon myself! You can read her account and view all her photos here.

Left: Cute Angelic Pretty coord (also album cover for HJ2011 on flickr), Right: lovely Baby the Stars Shine Bright coord
Don’t forget you can see all the past ‘Friday Fashionista’ issues here if you don’t want to scroll through my whole blog to find them. You can also email me suggestions for next week at hjkawaiistar@gmail.com. HJ2012 is fast approaching… hope to see you all there! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

It’s Friday and so here is a bit of fashion inspiration for the weekend! Meet Phoebe, otherwise known as herajika, a lolita with perfect coordinations in all sub-styles. As well as lolita fashion, Phoebe loves Rilakkuma among other cute things! You can view her outfits in this album on flickr.

Left: Her and Kyra presenting the fashion show, photo by Saoirse Clohessy, Right: close up of accessories
Phoebe, along with other lolita extraordinaire Kyra, hosted the ‘Cute and Colourful’ fashion show at HJ2011. She answered typical questions about Lolita fashion to start the show, and looked amazing in her blackxgold ‘Puppet Circus’ jumperskirt. Her sweet coordinations are always full of colour and adorable accessories. I particularly like her outfit featuring the beautiful ‘Magical Etoile’ from Angelic Pretty. She is also very knowledgeable in classic styles as well as gothic and more casual sweet styles. Below are my favourites from her album (it was very hard to choose!)

Left: Magical Etoile OTT sweet coord, I love her hat! Middle: Moi-meme-moitie gothic coord, Right: beautiful classic Innocent World coord
Any suggestions for next week’s post? Comments on any previous entries? Email me at hjkawaiistar@gmail.com! You know where you need to be for fashionistas to spark your creativity! Join me again next week. Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

It’s that time of the week again and this time we have Welsh lolita expert Rachel Claire! From rural Wales, Rachel is a talented fine art painter, and has a real passion for Japanese street fashion. A lot of her art is influenced by fantasy and rococo culture, and can be viewed here. Her creativity she shows in her art also shows in her brilliant fashion coordinations. Though mainly a sweet lolita, she is also seen in styles such as fairy-kei, and is an inspiration to many UK fashionistas. Here are some of my favourite photos from her blog:

Left: a fairy-kei type coord, Middle: sweet lolita coord, photo taken by Steffi Santiago, Right: coord inspired by Reira from the anime NANA
At HYPER JAPAN 2011 Rachel modelled in the ‘Cute and Colourful’ fashion show decked in cute accessories from head to toe. She looked lovely in her outfit featuring Angelic Pretty’s ‘Candy Fairy’, and appeared with adorable lolita Kairi, who was wearing Angelic Pretty’s ‘Miracle Candy’. The two obviously impressed the public with their pretty coordinations and were interviewed for the HYPER JAPAN youtube and Mo-am magazine’s youtube.

You people with a passion for fashion are in for a real treat this week! If any of you are interested in lolita fashion from the UK this is definitely the post for you. Meet Louisa, a lolita who owns a UK based brand called ‘Icing Sugar’. Add her ability to make beautiful clothes and accessories to her exceptional drawing and design skills, and you get a recipe for success!

Left: Babydoll dress modelled at the fashion show by Livi, photograph by Saoirse Clohessy, Right: ‘Icing Sugar’ jewellery being sold at HYPER JAPAN
‘Icing Sugar’ is a unique cute style and sweet lolita brand, specialising in one of a kind handmade jewellery and printed dresses and skirts. At HYPER JAPAN 2011 Louisa sold some of her items at the Lolita Bring and Buy and her pink ‘Sweet Tea Party’ babydoll dress was modelled at the ‘Cute and Colourful’ fashion show by the lovely Livi! A lot of her designs take inspiration from famous Japanese brands such as Emily Temple Cute and Shirley Temple. Some of her other favourite brands include Angelic Pretty and 6% Doki Doki.

My two favourite items from ‘Icing Sugar’
Also she is a very talented artist, currently working in graphic design. She thinks up all the prints and ideas for jewellery herself and you can check out all her artwork and concept sketches on her deviantART. If this post has got you wanting to make a purchase right away, head over to her online etsy store. Hopefully we will see Louisa and ‘Icing Sugar’ making an appearance at HYPER JAPAN 2012’s Lolita Boutique? Join me again for your weekly fashion dose next Friday! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Welcome all you avid fashion followers to issue 2! This Friday we are moving away from the hyper sweet styles to the beauty of Classic Lolita. And who better to show off this style than flawless classic lolita Sapphira! Resembling the clothes worn in the victorian era, all her coordinations are full of charm and elegance, giving off a mature and sophiticated look.
At HYPER JAPAN 2010 she was lucky enough to be chosen to model for the very popular japanese brand Innocent World. Five other girls were also chosen to model from top Japanese fashion brands such as Angelic Pretty and BPN, to be commented on by the likes of former Ambassador of Cute Misako Aoki and last Friday’s Fashionista Tania. She looked absolutely wonderful in her classy brown ensemble – and she got to keep the outfit! I can definitely picture her in KERA magazine. At HYPER JAPAN 2011 she participated in the ‘Elegant and Sophisticated’ fashion show along with ten other lovlies dressed in classic coordinations.

Left and right: Sapphira modelling for Innocent World, middle: Sapphira in the fashion show with a stunning dress she made herself!
Sapphira is a very talented seamstress and even made the white dress she wore to the fashion show above! In fact her handmade items look so professionally made I thought they may have been from somewhere such as Jane Marple or Juliette et Justine, two of her favourite brands. Her handmade dresses/headresses really make her coordinations unique and I love the way she balances patterns and colours in all of her outfits. Here are some of my favourite coordinations:

Left: Sapphira in a lovely handmade dress, Middle: My favourite outfit of hers, wearing a Juliette et Justine one piece, Right: she even made the beautiful flower headdress in this photo!
Pop back next Friday for when I’ll be spicing things up a bit, maybe with a decora or fairy kei fashionista! Stay tuned! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Hello and welcome to issue 1 of Friday Fashionista! Every Friday I will be talking about a UK fashionista who has really caught my eye with their taste in Japanese fashion and beautiful coordinations. If you have anyone you’d like to recommend, please email me at hjkawaiistar@gmail.com and I will take a look!
First up we have London lolita extraordinare Tania, otherwise known as pixie_late. Tania is into all sorts of Lolita styles and looks flawless in her sweet, classic and gothic outfits. Often she is seen experimenting with other sub styles too. At 2010’s HYPER JAPAN she joined a celebrity panel (including Japan’s former Ambassador of Cute Misako Aoki!) to talk about Lolita fashion and the KERA magazine fashion show. On top of that, at 2011’s HYPER JAPAN she organised the tea party with Kanon Wakeshima which went down a hit!

Left: Tania with Kanon Wakeshima, photograph by Steffi Santiago. Right: Tania on the panel with Misako Aoki
Her favourite places to buy her clothes include the adorably sweet Angelic Pretty and Baby the Stars Shine Bright, classically elegant Innocent World and Mary Magdalene and the hauntingly gothic Moi-meme-moitié. As you can see, a wide range of types of Lolita, but it doesn’t stop there. Mixing other styles with Lolita is one of her specialities. Here are some of my favourites from her coordinations album:

Left: Angelic Pretty’s ‘Chess Chocolate’ outfit, photo taken by Joe Gascoigne. Middle: cute otome-kei coord. Right: Slytherin coord I’m sure Harry Potter fans will love!
She even makes some of her own accessories including the adorable chocolate hat pictured above. I’ve heard that at the next HYPER JAPAN she will be organising a ‘Lolita Boutique’ with loads of handmade goodies from all the crafty UK Lolitas, so come along to get your hands on something really special for your wardrobe!
Stop by again next Friday for another fashionista! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ
