Neo Tokyo, Berlin

Neo Tokyo – Berlin’s no.1 spot for manga, anime and more!

Hello everyone! A few weeks ago I went sightseeing in Germany and I read online about a shop called Neo Tokyo in central Berlin, so I decided to go and check it out for myself.

It was a lot bigger than I expected, after visiting similar places in London I was expecting a much smaller shop, but the anime section in particular was massive. All the DVDs lined up all along the wall, it looked really awesome. The manga section also had a lot of choice. I was particularly drawn in by the multi volume packs of my favourite manga Shinshi Doumei Cross (but I already own all of them!)

As well as the large anime and manga selection there were also cabinets with a variety of j-pop and k-pop CDs and DVDs, with merchandise for acts such as AKB48, SHINee and Hatsune Miku. There were also some popular fashion magazines such as Popteen and my favourite: the Gothic Lolita Bible. On top of all this there was a small table with san-x, chocomint and totoro items (everything was totally cute!).

There were a few items that I loved that I just had to purchase! First of all, an adorable mint chocomint purse, with pretty layers and a bow. Secondly, this san-x ‘piggy girl’ cup. I think this san-x series is just meant for me, I love cute things but I also love food, particularly cake! And of course the latest volume of the GLB (I spotted Friday Fashionista Sapphira in the street snaps!). I love being able to own Lolita magazines so I can stare at all the pretty collections and practise my Japanese reading at the same time!

Well that’s all for now! Also I am happy to say that I got a ticket to see Perfume in London, who else is going? I’m sure it will be really good! Stay tuned to Scarlett’s world of cute! Bye bye ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Every year Japan Matsuri has got bigger and better. This time the 4th Japan Matsuri was held in Trafalgar Square, and was the busiest it has been yet. Everything was going on from taiko drumming to dance groups to singing contests. There was also the Tea Party Club fashion show which I was lucky enough to model in!

All of the fashion show models. Photo credit goes to Rebecca Downey.
There was a great range of food stalls. For my lunch I chose a delicious chicken katsu curry and a pork bun but there were lots of other things including sushi and bento. There was also green tea ice cream mmm yummy! The nodojiman was a lot of fun to watch, Nodojiman is a Japanese singing contest. It was great to see such a variety of contestants all singing different styles.
The Tea Party Club fashion show showcased many types of Lolita fashion including sweet gothic, classic, sailor, pirate… everything you could imagine! I represented Kodona (boy-style) with my favourite kodona coordinate from Alice and the Pirates. It was such fun to be in it, everybody looked so lovely! The stage was very big and the festival was crowded with people so it was a bit scary but a lot less nerve-wracking to come on as a 3. In my trio were Andie in an adorable otome coordinate and Ruth in a really cool wa-lolita outfit.

Left to right Me, Andie and Ruth. Photo credit goes to Rebecca Downey.
Not long to go now until HYPER JAPAN! Who is excited? I know I’m excited. I’m most looking forward to the MARBLE Collection and Nice Ice… I miss their strawberry shaved ice! I need more of it! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Hello everyone! I’m finally back so I’ll be blogging as normal. Over July and August I was lucky enough to go to Vietnam and Thailand. You usually see me blogging about ‘kawaii’ in the UK but I found many adorable items on my holiday and for very cheap prices. So I’m going to tell you about my purchases!
First of all in Vietnam clothes were particularly cheap. I bought two very cute polkadot peter pan collar tops in the capital, Hanoi. I also got a classic lolita skirt commissioned at a tailors for approximately £10. When I was walking along in a small coastal town I also found a really cute shop where I bought the Rilakkuma rucksacks and the pig phone holder (which I can take to university with me!).

In Thailand, especially in Bangkok, there was lots of adorable stuff to buy! I got the cute headdresses in Siam Square. My favourite shop, also in Siam Square, was decked with official Sanrio and San-X merchandise with endless Rilakkuma and Hello Kitty stationary, bags and all sorts. I bought the Jewel Pet bag there; the colours on it are just lovely. They also had the cutest pink Little Twin Stars hoodie. The purikura in Bangkok was really fun too and the Japanese crepes were so yummy! The supermarket had much cuter things than Tesco does too, I found the nightdresses for £2 each.

Coming soon will be reports on my first Mori-girl meet and the Loli-Pop event at the V&A! I’ll also be attending Alcon in early September as press so I’ll be writing about that too, as well as performing at Alcon on the Saturday at 12:30! If you’re coming too come and say hello! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Some exciting news emerged recently revealing that the popular manga and anime Sailor Moon will be getting an anime remake in 2013. This remake will stick closer to what happens in the manga and will be aimed at original fans. It will be part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the popular series. Not much is known as of yet other than idol group Momoiro Clover Z will be singing the opening, and were seen at JAPAN EXPO in Paris singing Moonlight Densetsu.
Momoiro Clover Z began as 6 member unit Momoiro Clover until Akari left, renaming themselves Momoiro Clover Z. I’ve recently become a huge fan. Their two recent songs PUSH and Otome Senso both have almost three million views on youtube and the group have recently appeared in several commercials including a CM for Pepsi and Fits gum. They also sing the ending song for the new season of the Pokemon anime in Japan. My personal favourite is Shiorin (yellow) as she is totally cute! ~

Good news, BABYMETAL fans! I introduced BABYMETAL, the super cute j-pop and metal mix idol group in an earlier post. After gaining a large fanbase across the world, the Doki Doki Morning single with a t-shirt is now on sale to overseas customers! Maybe one day they will come and perform in the UK? If you’re interested here is the link to the overseas shop.
Their recent music video for their song Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! has also been released, and they had their first English interview, in which you get to hear from the three girls Su-metal, Moa-metal and Yui-metal as well as their producer… who appears to be a skeleton. Watch their new music video here and check out the interview here.
What do you guys think of kawaii metal? I’m personally loving it! See you! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Do you remember UK shop I Love Crafty from my previous ‘cute coordinate’ competition? Well they have a new range out available on their website and etsy titled ‘I’m really a mermaid’. The collection is super cute, I particularly like the mermaid silhouette necklaces in pink, they would go great with some sweet lolita prints. They also currently have a sale on a lot of the items including these adorable Battenberg earrings and this yummy cake selection necklace, so be sure to check it out! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Hello everybody! Today is Friday so I hope this post gives you some fashionspiration! Meet Joanne, a lolita who is not only into collecting beautiful pieces and making pretty coords but also has her own brand called ‘Rocking Horse Designs’. So let’s find out more!
What I like most about Joanne’s outfits are the colours! I like how she puts various colours together in a way that they complement eachother perfectly. I also like the way she matches her accessories. Above are three of my favourite outfits of hers. In the first she is wearing ‘Miracle Candy’ from Angelic Pretty, and she really brings out the reds in the print and carries on the candy theme with that adorable lollipop clip! I also love her ‘Dreaming Macaron’ coord, the yellows and pinks go really well together. And lastly, an outfit definitely fit for a Jubilee meetup!

Joanne’s brand ‘Rocking Horse Designs’ has all types of clothes including Lolita and Fairy Kei. There are dresses, salopettes, capes, skirts and all sorts up for sale. There are also cute accessories like the Hello Kitty necklaces pictured below! Some of my favourite pieces would be this pink fairy kei pinafore and this adorable sailor-style dress. Here is the etsy so you can check out the products for yourself too.

Unfortunately next week I won’t be able to post as I’ll be taking some very important exams! In the meantime you can take a look at previous Friday Fashionistas if you like! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Hi everyone! Today I will be showing you a few of my favourite accessories that I have been wearing a lot recently. But first I’d like to hear from all of you: what is your favourite ‘kawaii’ accessory? You can email me information and pictures to hjkawaiistar@gmail.com! I will then talk about all the emails I receive in a future post.

The left picture shows the rings I love the most in my ring collection at the moment. The mint macaron ring is from Saya Cafe, and the cake slice and bow biscuit ring are from Super Cute Kawaii Shop that I talked about in my last post. I love these ones in particular because they coordinate well into my wardrobe and they are all just so adorable! I also frequently wear my Le Tigre necklace from Roxie Sweetheart. It really adds colour to my outfits and I like the way the chain is attached to the little heart shaped ears. So cute!

The next two I like because they fit well into a lot of my Japanese street fashion outfits but I didn’t need to go far at all to buy them! The hairtie on the left is from Accessorize (I have it in pink as well as white), and the bow clip is actually from the kid’s section in Matalan. I can clip the bow anywhere, in my hair, on to other bows, on to my shoes etc. to give a cute look.
Friday Fashionista coming this week plus many more posts to come. Anything you’d like to suggest for a post? You can email me your suggestions to hjkawaiistar@gmail.com. Thanks for reading! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

In this post I will be showing you some super cute finds from last weekend! As many of you are aware it was the MCM expo in London and I found lots of stalls I hadn’t seen before with lots of adorable things. Today I will be talking about a couple of stalls that caught my eye!

The adorable phone cases from ‘Super Cute Kawaii Shop’
Firstly ‘Super Cute Kawaii Shop’, who told me they are hoping to appear at HYPER JAPAN in November! The stall had a large range of deco rings and iPhone cases covered in cookies, ice cream, waffles… any yummy food you can imagine! It was all very good value too, the deal was 2 rings for £3 which I instantly snapped up. I bought an adorable mint chocolate biscuit ring and a pink cake slice ring, both of which are adjustable in size and look good enough to eat. Aside from the ones I bought, I particularly liked the chocolate piece rings and macaron rings. Unfortunately the majority of the cases did not fit my phone however each one was extremely detailed and pretty with many different colour schemes to choose from. There were also a couple of phone charms and some earrings. They even gave me a peas in a pod phone charm which when you squeeze it the little peas come out! It’s so cute! I would highly recommend their stuff so let’s hope we see them at HYPER JAPAN.

There was a large selection of rings available
The other stall that caught my eye was ‘Cherry Abuku’. Their display was the definition of ‘kawaii’ with all sorts of handmade plushies including onigiri, sandwiches and tamago sushi with little eyes and a variety of expressions. The hats were just the cutest (my favourites were the kitty and penguin!). You can see many of their other products on their facebook page. When I saw this stegosaurus they made as a commission, I had to include it in the post, what a cutie! I’ve heard that they are closing down which is very sad, however soon their website will be open again with their remaining stock so if you like what you’ve seen in this post be sure to get some of their adorable products while you can.

Apologies for blogging slightly less recently, I’m currently taking my A-levels, but I will try to update as often as I can! Friday Fashionista post coming tomorrow and don’t forget you only have until the end of today to enter the contest to win the phone cases I designed, so be sure to do so! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

It’s more than 6 months until the next HYPER JAPAN and I’m already super excited! In the meantime, let’s meet a new fashionista! I met loads of lovely people at the ‘Kitty and the Bulldog’ display meet at the Victoria and Albert museum (post to come soon), Florrie being one of them. She has a really unique style and her blog is just great.
Her coordinations are always full of colour! She uses lots of different shades, mainly of pastel colours, to make her outfits bright and interesting, not just in Lolita but in her everyday wear as well. I was surprised she buys from such a range of places, from Japanese fashion brands to vintage and other lucky finds. It is amazing how she matches it all together perfectly. I picked two of my favourite outfits from her blog.

Left: I love the coat, Middle: the vintage bolero is just lovely, Right: what amazing shoes!
Aside from being a fashion enthusiast, Florrie is also a blogger, as well as being an artist and portrait painter. Her blog Intrinsically Florrie focuses on her fashion finds, the latest trends and anything else she finds interesting. I particularly like this post on cardigans, it’s always great to find such cute things in high street shops. There are many other fascinating posts, it is very fun to read!
Don’t forget you can win super cute phone cases for Blackberry, iPhone 3 and iPhone 4 by just following the instructions here. I hope you will all enter! Bye bye ~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ
